PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

SCREW MACHINES

Our 8 spindle Acme Gridley screw machines can turn stock ranging from one inch to two and five eights inches in diameter while holding tolerances of .001 inch. These durable machines perform the rough turning required to manufacture large quantities efficiently. Two of the larger machines have been retrofitted with cnc controls to reduce set up times and increase our versatility.

MULTI-AXIS CNC TURNING

Our turning department includes ten late model Mazak lathes and two Okuma lathes, an LU 400 and an LU 25. The Mazaks are capable of machining items up to thirteen inches in diameter and twenty inches in length. The LU400 Okumas has a four inch bore and is configured to handle a variety of shafts up to fifty inches long. Indexable chucks on our Mazaks allow multiple operations with a single setup reducing unproductive changeover time. Twin turrets allow for multiple operations simultaneously improving product flow and cycle times. Bar feed attachments increase efficiency. Tolerances of .0005 and microfinishes of 32 can consistently be maintained. Two shift operations allow us to begin making prototypes within hours of drawing releases.

MULTI-AXIS CNC MILLING

Our milling department has eight machine tools capable of responding to specific customer needs. Examples include modifying the ball track angle on housings and inner races to accommodate high angle applications. Indexable chucks allow for multiple machine operations reducing cycle times and unwarranted variation.

EXTERNAL SPLINE WORK

An important breakthrough has been our ability to machine the external spline on housings and shafts by rolling rather than cutting with a hob or shaper. Reduced cycle time improves product flow and allows us to incorporate custom requirements which also reduces obsolescence. In addition the strength of the bar is increased through reforming the grain structure of the material and tolerances are more precise because runout is reduced.
